Wishing all you drivers a Happy Easter! Uber is Goliath, and RSDU is David. Who won that fight? Uber is run very well. They have passengers thinking Uber is a gift from God. Cheap rides. Free rides. Fun rides. Uber have their drivers begging for scraps with an endless supply of newbies. Make heaps on the side. Buy that boat you always wanted. Take that holiday you never could. It's genius! So how does the down-trodden little dude win? (meaning drivers) Quit. That is why RSDU's strike action is a fantastic strategy - instead of quitting. I firmly believe that the most powerful strikes are the ones that Uber cannot see coming. They do not need to be for a whole day. Once you have the numbers, use Whatsapp, Viber, Skype, Facebook, RSDU app etc to coordinate timely strikes in specific areas (eg. no airport pickups from 7-9am one day). And then have lookouts watching to see which drivers still show up, and take their rego. No thuggery, just intimidation. It is only when RSDU flexes its true might (when it builds enough support), that Uber will be willing to listen to our demands. Until that day, these demands will just be laughed at. So we have plenty of time to get them right.
Strike via the airport queues and roads. Drive around in circles in large groups. Not illegal right? I like that!
We'll have to read up on the loitering and touting laws. There could be some cross-over, especially in the Airport zones that are heavily monitored/patrolled.
