The "Perth Now" link appears to be incorrect - brings up the "Van Breda murder trial" ...

Okay, so Uber was contacted yesterday and did say something. Specifically, 'if you don't like it - go drive for competitors, we don't care'

Which is a twist from previous wave of deactivations of drivers working for GoCatch, but nothing outside of normal Uber practices...

Using an argument based on we can shaft you because you can always leave i dont think works and might even get up the commissions goat
I dont think i have ever heard such an incriminating argument by a boss before
Minimum conditions are for all bosses anyway

Agreed but the Commission needs to pay attention... ^-^

This sounds like a response (two weeks later) to this RSDU update: http://ridesharedriversunited.com/forum/threads/rsdu-update-4-5-2017.267/- where RSDU suggested it would recommend members to explore other options. Explore away, Uber says.

Its the endless repetition of the 'independent contractor not employee' BS, series 4 episode 99.

I agree, not a very smart reply. This may make the commision "tighten the screws" on Uber even harder.

RSDU called on the commission to look into the conditions of ALL ride share drivers. Not just Uber drivers. Uber are the biggest and the most popular, employing about 18,000 drivers in Victoria (accourding to Uber's figures) so obviously we deal with them first. Actions on the rest will follow in due course.

RSDU does not recommend members to switch to any other rideshare platform in the mean time. Not until the "other" platforms lead by example and lift thier rates to sustainable levels, as stipulated by our list of demands.

Uber are known to "say things", talk is cheap, ask anyone who went to any of thier so called roundtable meetings.

Uber keeps forgetting this country has stringent fair work laws in place and will deal hurshly with companies that go the sham contracting route, exploiting thier workers in broad day light. Whether those companies use "thecnologicly advanced apps" or not is not important!... they will eventually be dealt with, it's not an "if", just a "when".

RSDU and the media will make sure of that...

Yeah we are still trying to figure out who they are, the drivers actually going to those "meetings"! Once we find them, we will ask them :)
