Very interesting... In its latest move to placate angry drivers and customers in the wake of recent scandals, Uber on Thursday launched several new features it says are a direct response to user complaints. In answer to gripes from drivers who say Uber’s policing policies are stacked against them, the startup is introducing new methods it says are more fair. The company also is rolling out a new feature that lets riders correct the pick-up location they’ve already entered into the app — preventing the headache a canceled ride can cause. But there’s still no sign the company will adopt in-app tipping, which has been one of drivers’ most pressing demands. “We know we have a long way to go,” Uber wrote in a blog post announcing the changes. “And moving forward, we’ll continue to act on the feedback we’ve received from drivers and riders to improve the experience for both.” Uber promised to make those changes last week in a conference call with reporters, during which General Manager Rachel Holt admitted Uber’s relationships with drivers are frayed and the company is looking to “rebuild that love.” The call, which came as Uber is fielding accusations of sexual harassment and sexism, and dealing with bad publicity after the release of a video showing CEO Travis Kalanick arguing with a driver over fares, was ...[Read more] http://ridesharedriversunited.com/uber-extends-olive-branch-to-drivers-launches-new-policies/
Not really, just a recap of this: http://ridesharedriversunited.com/forum/threads/uber-pledges-to-make-drivers-happier.40/ Same handful of changes on feedback handling that 'will be happening' nobody knows when but they are 'working on it', still nothing on the in app tipping.
True. Yet also already happened in previous announcement http://ridesharedriversunited.com/forum/threads/uber-pledges-to-make-drivers-happier.40/ I guess I am just wondering if they are going to play this song for the next five years until next change of management - oh we have seen the light now, we have so mishandled our valued driver partners but not to worry, we are fixing everything in our new exciting app upgrade which now will look at how many years you have been slaving for us, and if it is over 3-5 years, you will get an extra warning before deactivation... kinda thing. Watch this space.
In-app tipping won't happen here until they figure out how to manage the cashie problem. Eg. Pax ride $100 (uber fee $25 cha-ching for uber), driver gets $75 less taxes... But with in-app tipping, Pax ride $10 (uber fee $2.50), in-app tip $80, driver gets $87.50 with a few dollars tax only TIPS are not taxable - which is the main point here So if in-app tipping does come it will have tax conditions so the govt and uber dont lose out
Correction Rider Champion: The ATO clearly defines tips (gratuities) as income. I hope that I am wrong, so please correct me if that is the case. https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/...ces,-earnings,-tips,-directors-fees-etc-2016/
