It begs the question... why did the government let them in, in the first place? There is now more uber drivers complaining about uber than taxi drivers. Who's in bed together here? Why are we working below min wage? Because the government let them in! taxis have been regulated since day dot,so they can all make a living, then go nah f@@k that let's just open the flood gates! wheres our super? Where's our min wage, where's our sunday and public holiday loading??? It's a mess created by our good friends at the fed,thank you very much! And no matter who in the departments you contact in regard to this, including but not exclusive to,the tax department for not charging gst to the rider, the transport minister for the same, the accc for it's a scam nothing more than a ponzy scheme, no response, stoned walled every way you turn. But it is the federal government that is at fault for letting these jokers in.

 

I've been wondring the same things for quite some time now.

No word from the FWC, no word from the ACCC, no word from any of the Unions, no word from our Governments.

A sweatshop is being run under everyone's noses (in broad day light) and they are all quiet.

the hotel industry has the same problems with Airbnb.
but Airbnb hosts have yet to complain about it.
is the only real difference a depreciating asset (vehicle) when compared t0 real estate?

 

With Uber you have the extra few bonuses

1. Depriciating assest

2. Costly frequent services and often major repairs

3. Hard work. You must physically drive, rain or shine, 10-14 hours per day (in Melbourbe) to clear all expenses and make some "income". It can be frustrating not to mention very unhealthy.

4. Risk of being on the roads. The more you are out there the greater the chances of an accident.

5. Traffic fines

I don't think Uber and Airbnb can be compared at all.

 

Its very naive to think Uber & Airbnb cannot be compared. They are essentially the same thing.

 

How are they similar except for "sharing" a piece of one asset for a short/limited time?

The execution/efforts, liabilities and risk for the owner are very diffrent IMO.
