Another Uber scam?

Uber is apparently charging the rider a higher amount than they pay the driver. If this is the case, it is similar to a scam they ran in the United States and were successfully sued by drivers for millions.

Here is an example of what's occuring. Charge on riders app $ 14.96. My app breakdown : Fare$ 13.31,Uber fee $3.66 Booking fee.55 Uber booking fee.55.

Second example: Rider app $ 70.74 My app: Fare $65.64 Uber fee $18.05 Toll 3.12 Booking fee to Uber .55.

The specialist unit is working on this and will get back to me.

If this is a deduction for GST, why doesn't it reflect in my break-up?

Check and note your passengers payment at the end of a trip.

It looks like you are in Victoria. If correct than don’t forget to add the $1 government levi charged by Uber to the passenger. The $1 levi does not show on drivers screens but charged directly by Uber (and showing on the passengers bill).

 

Every fare I did last night had a higher charge on the passenger app than the fare paid to me. Every discrepancy exceeded $ 1.10. A friend informed me that Uber quotes a higher rate to the passenger that exceeds the killometer rate paid to the driver, and 'pockets' the difference. I am a Dinosaur in the modern world, and I am not 'tech-savy'. As this is happening across the board it should be easy for tech-savy people to get the screen shots.

The discrepancy is always more than $ 1.
00, and can vary significantly. The figures simply do not add up. Hopefully, someone else can keep tabs and confirm what I have stated.

 

We need proof. Please take screenshoots of both the passenger and your screens the next time it happens. We can then take it further.
